A Special Eve
A Quiet Celebration of Storytelling and New Beginnings at AMAH
15th December 2024
On the evening of December 15th, we gathered for A Special Eve at AMAH Studio — an intimate night to celebrate a milestone close to our hearts.
We hosted the first screening of "Ndewo," a short film shot and directed by AMAH founder Daniel Obasi and commissioned by RIMOWA.
Ndewo — meaning "Welcome" in Igbo — is a meditation on home, identity, movement, and memory. Through dreamlike imagery and quiet storytelling, the film follows a young man's journey through spaces that blur the lines between nostalgia and imagination, grounding the ideas of travel and belonging in an African emotional landscape.
The film explores themes of return and rootedness: how the places we come from shape the journeys we take, and how movement can be both an escape and a coming home. With Daniel's signature visual language — poetic, fashion-forward, textured — Ndewo stands as a tender tribute to heritage, change, and the quiet courage it takes to dream beyond borders.
The studio transformed into a soft, cinematic space — blue lights glowing low, chairs and cushions carefully arranged for comfort, the air scented faintly with incense. Friends, collaborators, and supporters of AMAH gathered to bear witness to this story, and by extension, to the spirit of AMAH itself.
A Special Eve was more than a screening. It was a moment of reflection and affirmation — a reminder that storytelling, when done with intention, can move mountains quietly.
Thank you for joining us.
